Why your birth time matters
- Two-hour window. The hour pillar covers two hours. A wrong time changes a quarter of your chart.
- Clock time. Use the time printed on your birth certificate.
- Start of Spring. The BaZi year begins at 立春, around 4 February, not Chinese New Year.
Zi Wei Dou Shu, explained
What Zi Wei Dou Shu is什么是紫微斗数
Also called Purple Star Astrology. Your birth date and hour place stars into twelve palaces, each covering one area of your life. It is traditionally credited to Chen Xiyi (陈希夷) of the Song dynasty.

A palace is never read alone. It is read with the palace opposite and the two that form a triangle with it: 三方四正. In this example the Life palace sits at 寅.
Dark: Life palace. Shaded: its three supporting palaces
